Childminding Ireland is the National Childminding Association in Ireland. We are a not-for-profit organisation, set up and run by former childminders. This means that we are uniquely placed to provide guidance and support to Irelands’ childminders at every step of their journey.
From our inception, more than forty years ago, we have both wanted, and actively worked for, an Ireland where childminding flourishes and is sustainable into the future. That’s why we advocate for the equitable inclusion of childminding in childcare policy. At Childminding Ireland, we are determined that the voices of childminders are represented and heard at this time of change.
We are also delighted to be able to support parents who are already using, or just thinking about using, a childminding service. Helping parents find the perfect childminder for their family is something we strive for – as our hugely popular database shows.
At Childminding Ireland, our childminders are fully insured, and have access to childminding specific courses on first aid, child protection and other relevant training. They are also Garda Vetted (or going through the process). We work collaboratively with several national and international organisations to stay up to date about best practice in childminding.
With transparency and good governance increasingly important in the non-for-profit section, Childminding Ireland routinely makes our annual accounts available every year. You can also read about our Board and our Staff for more information too.
